Clean Sweep to the Sea

Rules for Participants

June 12, 2010 (June 19th rain date)

Sponsored by

East Lynn Community Association

and

Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach

  1. All participants must sign release of liability. If under 18 years, parent or guardian must sign release of liability. Participants younger than 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  1. Sponsors will provide each participant with a kit including latex-free gloves, bags for collecting trash, individually packaged antiseptic hand wipes, bottle of water, and a Hawaiian lei to wear for group identification. The lei also serves as your identification as part of the group for food at the cookout.

  1. Individuals will be assigned to groups of 4 to 6 persons and given specific routes to follow during the cleanup. Individuals must remain with their respective groups until arriving at Red Rock Park. Those assigned to Red Rock Park and beach areas should remain with their group until the assigned area is completed.

  1. Do not pick up needles/syringes, broken glass, other sharp objects, or dead animals. Leave them alone. If you can, identify the location and turn in the information to organizers at the end of the clean sweep.

  1. Do not walk out into middle of streets to pick up trash. Pick up sidewalk areas only (unless you are assigned to a park).

  1. Do not play loud music as you walk (even with headphones; you must be able to be in communication with your group). Do not "act out", or speak to non-participants in a confrontational way.

  1. Dispose of bagged trash only at pre-identified drop locations. Separate organic or "yard" debris from regular trash as much as possible.

  1. Cross intersections together as a group when signals indicate it is okay for pedestrians to proceed, or when cars have stopped. Cross only at lights and crosswalks.

  1. Maintaining your personal safety is the most important ingredient to a successful clean up.

  1. If you must leave your group for any reason during the clean up, please notify your group leader.

  1. Enjoy the bands and cookout at Red Rock Park! The event will conclude at 2:30 p.m.

1. Thank you for participating in this event to make Lynn more "Clean and Beautiful"!
